We’re excited to announce pop-up libraries in a couple of Ward 9 parks during the warmer months! We’ll be at Captain John Wilson (Thursday mornings) and Walker Homesite Park (Monday evenings) every three weeks with all sorts of fun library activities! Windsor Public Library is once again offering a full summer of fun and activities planned for children – and they are all free of charge! With the unofficial start of summer with the first long holiday weekend of the season, this week’s Throwback Thursday Pic is of an aerial photograph of a long traffic jam of cars trying to cross the Ambassador Bridge back into Canada. This image was taken sometime in the 1950s, showing a situation many Windsorites are very familiar with having to wait too pass through customs on their way home. FOREST GLADE BRANCH CELEBRATES 35 YEARS

Forest Glade branch is celebrating a birthday on Monday, May 15. For 35 years it has been providing entertainment, educational and information resources to the residents of East Windsor. An Open House is scheduled from 3 to 5 pm. Library staff would love to have the community stop by to celebrate: food, fun activities and giveaways are scheduled. As we head into another travel season, this week’s Throwback Thursday Pic was taken sometime in the 1930s at Windsor International Airport. The photograph is of a Trans Canada Airlines (predecessor to Air Canada) Lockheed 10 Electra arriving at Windsor. According to Wikipedia, the Lockheed 10 Electra had a crew of 2 and a capacity of 10 passengers with a cruising speed of 185 mph and a cruising altitude of about 21,000 feet.
