FRED 2.0 is here!
Click on Services in the menu above and then look for the bookmobile photo for more information.  Or you can use the link below to access the bookmobile calendar directly.
The new bookmobile is equipped to offer the same services as a regular library branch, including book lending, digital resources, and various programs for all ages.
The Bookmobile schedule can also be found in the Events Calendar.

is open 7 days a week in 9
locations in 2026. Hours of operation are also standardized as noon to 8 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 10 am to 6 pm on all other days.

A Conversation With Jeff Lemire @ Windsor Public Library

Viola Desmond and Civil Rights in Canada

  The Bank of Canada has selected Canadian civil rights pioneer Viola Desmond as the first Canadian woman to appear on our money. Desmond, an icon of the human rights and freedoms movement in Canada, was selected from a short list of five iconic Canadian women by Minister [Bill] Morneau, in accordance with the Bank of Canada Act. A successful Nova Scotia businesswoman, she is known for defiantly refusing to leave a whites-only area of a movie theatre in 1946. Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway: new report available for public review

A design and construction report pertaining to “New structures at the western terminus of the Highway 401 (Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway)” has been made available for public review and comment by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. Copies of the document will be available at the Central, Nikola Budimir and Sandwich Libraries for a 30 day period, running November 18, 2016 through December 19, 2016....

Downtown Transportation Strategy

Now available for review at the Central Branch is the City of Windsor’s final report of the Downtown Transportation Strategy. The study “is focused around the routine accommodation of improvements to active transportation modes” and considers vehicular capacity of specific roads,on-street parking and bicycle corridors. Travels with FRED

If you haven’t had a chance to explore Windsor Public Library’s coolest new branch, you’re missing something.  Our bookmobile, lovingly called FRED (for Freedom to Read, Educate and Discover) has been on the road for a few months now, bringing what the library has to offer to seniors’ facilities, community events, or under-serviced neighbourhoods. Conceptual Drawings For John Muir Public Library Approved

The JOHN MUIR branch will be the newest in the Windsor Public Library system when it opens in April 2018.
