Finding Information: WPL Databases Versus Google?

Sweating over a term paper? You have to try our online databases! We all love Google, it’s great for a quick search especially for current events and news, personal information needs including shopping and entertainment or for finding locations – I’m a big fan of Google Maps. However, if you have to write a research paper or need verifiable, accurate information you are better off using a library database. At Windsor Public Library many of the documents found in our databases cannot be found by searching Continue Reading...

Prohibition in the Border Cities gave rise to many stories of rumrunners, speakeasies and people who fought against illegal liquor.  On Thursday November 29, an appreciative audience gathered in the Community Living Room at the Central Branch to hear local author Patrick Brode (pictured left) retell the story of  the deadly confrontation between  innkeeper Babe Trumble and Rev. If you missed this presentation, Mr. Brode will make another appearance on Saturday December 1 at our Sandwich Branch.  Program begins at 2:30 p.m.  Copies of his book, DYING Continue Reading...

Tell Us Where To Go – Again?

Where should the new Central Library be located? It’s been a hot topic across the Windsor Public Library system this summer and the community has certainly made its voice heard.
