The new bookmobile is equipped to offer the same services as a regular library branch, including book lending, digital resources, and various programs for all ages.

is open 7 days a week in 9
locations in 2026. Hours of operation are also standardized as noon to 8 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 10 am to 6 pm on all other days.

BREAKING NEWS: BOOKMOBILE REPLACEMENT APPROVED

The past two years has seen the Windsor Public Library Board, administration and staff working tirelessly to replace FRED – our much loved bookmobile. Old age and constant use led to FRED being retired from the road in 2020. Hard work and diligence paid off last night, as Windsor City Council passed a motion allocating funds for the WPLB to proceed in acquiring a replacement. A LOOK AT WINDSOR’S CURLING PAST ADDED TO LOCAL HISTORY COLLECTION

Attention curling fans and local history buffs: Windsor Public Library welcomes a new addition to its Local History collection. Ted Szalay’s History of Windsor Curling Club and Related Curling Trivia highlights the sport of curling and its origins in Windsor. Readers will be impressed with the breadth of information covered in this volume, which is supplemented by photographs and personal reflections. As health and safety restrictions slowly begin to lift and vaccination rates rise, there is hope we can discover the ‘new normal’ and put Covid-19 behind us. Windsor Public Library has good news: operating under Step 3 of the provincial Reopening Ontario Act, effective Monday, February 7, in-branch services will be available including limited browsing, public computer use and lamination services for QR codes. WINTER STORM RESPONSE UPDATE

The Windsor Public Library, together with Recreation facilities, community centres and museums throughout the City of Windsor will close following regular evening programming tonight and remain closed until 3:30 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2022. This closure is being shared now in an effort to allow residents time to plan for tomorrow and to ensure snow clearing crews can have branches prepared safely for the 3:30 pm opening. NATIONAL LETTER TO AN ELDER DAY

February 26 is National Letter to an Elder Day, a holiday celebrated by sending an elder a handwritten letter of love. National Letter to an Elder Day was started by Love For Our Elders, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting loneliness with love among senior communities. This day comes once a year to honor the art of letter-writing as a way to send love, one letter at a time! Windsor Public Library Pivots to Contactless Curbside Pick-Up

Effective Thursday, January 6, 2022, contactless curbside pickup of materials will commence with all in-branch services suspended. We’re excited to announce that on Wednesday, December 15, Windsor Public Library will be transitioning to a new online catalogue called Enterprise! JOHN MUIR BRANCH RECOGNIZED BY THE CAHP

The John Muir Branch of the Windsor Public Library has been recognized by the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP) with a 2021 Award of Excellence for Conservation in the architecture category. Award recipients Jason Grossi (studio g+G inc., architect) and Christopher Borgal (GBCA Architects) will be formally acknowledged at the virtual CAHP Annual General Meeting in October.
