WPL Celebrates 125 Years

One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, on December 4 1894, Windsor Public Library first opened at Lambie’s Hall.  Library users who paid five cents for a library card could select from among 5,254 books and 60 periodicals.  Lambie’s Hall remained the Windsor Public Library for almost seven years, until the Carnegie Library opened in 1903.   The site on Ferry Street letter became the location of the Windsor Star building...

Flags of Remembrance Plaques at Central Branch

The news that several plaques honouring Canadian veterans had been stolen from a Riverside Drive memorial was heartbreaking.  The plaques and Canadian flags were installed by the Veterans Voices of Canada as part of their National Flags of Remembrance project.  However, when plaques started to go missing from the memorial, they were removed in order to preserve them.
