For parents and guardians with school-aged children, transitioning to eLearning can be a challenging experience. We’re here to help. WPL staff have been hard at work collecting grade and subject-specific resources to support the content being distributed by schools.

“This unprecedented closure has forced many of us to assess and react to daily events. The Windsor Public Library is no different,” says Councillor Rino Bortolin, chair of the WPLB “Staff has quickly pivoted to focus on enhancing online services, creating on-line story times and assisting customers with resources and materials questions. Additionally, a small group was tasked with supporting the school curricula by providing resources and materials to assist with eLearning.”
The resources are divided into three sections: Kindergarten; Curriculum Activities for Grades 1 through 8; and lastly, Curriculum Activities for Grades 9 through 12. Staff has made Kindergarten and Grades 1-8 a priority with new content added daily. High School resources are being finalized and reviewed. WPL will also support curriculum throughout the summer and concentrate on the summer reading program to ensure students are ready for school in September.
“Just as we would if you visited us in a library branch, we have gathered together a variety of resources from WPL’s digital collection as well as carefully curated and trusted online sources to support and supplement learning at home activities,” says Christine Rideout-Arkell, the public services manager heading up the initiative. “The resources are arranged by grade and subject and follow the curriculum guidelines mandated by the Ontario Ministry of Education.”
