Paul Vasey

Born on August 29, 1945 [1] in Toronto, Paul Vasey is an accomplished author and journalist. He was raised in Owen Sound [2]. Vasey obtained a degree in philosophy from the University of Windsor and went on to study at the University of Toronto’s Massey College [3]. Vasey currently resides in Windsor.
Vasey’s impressive career as a journalist, which began at the Owen Sound Sun-Times, includes positions with the Hamilton Spectator and the Canadian Press [4]. He has also worked as a feature writer for the Windsor Star and as a journalist with the CBC in Windsor for 16 years [4]. His work as a journalist led to his being awarded the Southam Fellowship for Journalists (1980-1981) and the City of Windsor Mayor’s Award for Literary Arts (1995) [5].
Vasey has written many fiction and nonfiction works, as well as short stories, and has made significant contributions to the literary scene in Windsor. Some examples of his work include The Great Train Ride (1981), The Inland Seas: A Journey through the Great Lakes (1987), Into Thin Air (1994), The Age of the Cities (1997), and A Troublesome Boy (2012) [6]. His book entitled The River: A Memoir of a Life in the Border Cities outlines Vasey’s experiences as a writer and journalist in Windsor [7].
