The new bookmobile is equipped to offer the same services as a regular library branch, including book lending, digital resources, and various programs for all ages.
The Bookmobile schedule can also be found in the Events Calendar.

is open 7 days a week in 9
locations in 2026. Hours of operation are also standardized as noon to 8 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 10 am to 6 pm on all other days.

New library at Optimist Community Centre ahead of schedule

Construction of the new Windsor Public Library branch at the Optimist Community Centre (1075 Ypres Avenue) is well ahead of schedule and will open before the January 2018 advertised date. Representatives from the City of Windsor and Windsor Public Library gathered at the Optimist Community Centre to ‘break the wall’ between the new library and the community centre, officially joining the two entities. Seed Lending Library Opening at Central

Due to the overwhelming success of the seed lending library at our Forest Glade Branch, we are excited to announce that a seed lending library is now coming to our Central Branch. This past summer as our patrons who frequent the downtown branch know, we opened a demonstration garden (pictured) on our balcony fronting Ouellette, thanks to Councillor and Library Board member, Rino Bortolin. We are thrilled to announce that the Penguin Random House Foundation has awarded Windsor Public Library a grant through its inaugural Library Awards for Innovation search. This award recognizes the most innovative public libraries and library staff for community-based library programs that engage citizens in reading and strengthen the social and cultural fabric of their community. This year only, Canada was eligible to compete, and Windsor Public Library was the only Canadian library to be named a recipient. Viola Desmond and Civil Rights in Canada

  The Bank of Canada has selected Canadian civil rights pioneer Viola Desmond as the first Canadian woman to appear on our money. Desmond, an icon of the human rights and freedoms movement in Canada, was selected from a short list of five iconic Canadian women by Minister [Bill] Morneau, in accordance with the Bank of Canada Act. A successful Nova Scotia businesswoman, she is known for defiantly refusing to leave a whites-only area of a movie theatre in 1946.
