The new bookmobile is equipped to offer the same services as a regular library branch, including book lending, digital resources, and various programs for all ages.
The Bookmobile schedule can also be found in the Events Calendar.

is open 7 days a week in 9
locations in 2026. Hours of operation are also standardized as noon to 8 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 10 am to 6 pm on all other days.

Flags of Remembrance Plaques at Central Branch

The news that several plaques honouring Canadian veterans had been stolen from a Riverside Drive memorial was heartbreaking.  The plaques and Canadian flags were installed by the Veterans Voices of Canada as part of their National Flags of Remembrance project.  However, when plaques started to go missing from the memorial, they were removed in order to preserve them. William F.(BILL) Chisholm Branch To Officially Open Saturday

Construction on the newest addition to the Windsor Public Library system, the W.F. CHISHOLM BRANCH (1075 Ypres Avenue), was completed well ahead of schedule and will officially open at a Saturday, October 21 ceremony, which begins at 1:30 pm.  Community members are welcome to attend. Local History Centre Recognized By OGS

The Windsor Public Library has received an Award of Merit from the Ontario Genealogical Society (OGS) for the LOCAL HISTORY CENTRE at Central Library, which opened in April 2016. Windsor Mayor and WPL Board Chair Drew Dilkens was present at the September meeting of the Essex Branch of OGS to accept the honour.  The Local History Room is located on the second floor of Central Library (850 Ouellette Avenue). Severe Flooding Causes Library Closures

Budimir Library
The Budimir (1310 Grand Marais Road West) and Riverside (6305 Wyandotte Street East) branches of Windsor Public Library are closed today through Friday because of severe flooding sustained during the storms experienced throughout the region yesterday. Updates will be posted on the library web site at windsorpubliclibrary.com regarding plans to re-open. To assist customers in the impacted areas, FRED, the WPL mobile library will be situated at Riverside Branch in the morning and at Budimir in the afternoon. WPL Welcomes New Subscription Service

Windsor Public Library has recently introduced a new service to help customers maximize their reading experience. LIBRARY AWARE is a free subscription service, available though the WPL web site, which generates personalized reading lists, newsletters and other forms of communication – all geared to individual customer choice. By selecting preferred reading genres, customers can receive reading recommendations, newsletters and other promotional material via email, directly to their homes. For the month of July, the Art Wall at the Central Branch will be featuring the art of  Nuong T. Benoit. Nuong studied traditional art in VietNam from 1976-1980 as well as the art of hair dressing which she practices to this day, along with cosmetology and nail art. In Saigon she opened a studio along with her hair salon where her creations were sought by many. Local author, Patrick Brode releases his latest history of Windsor.
A good assortment of history buffs, curious library visitors, supporters and admirers of writer Patrick Brode, attended last night’s launch of BORDER CITIES POWERHOUSE: THE RISE OF WINDSOR, 1900-1945.  Although this nonfiction book focuses on developments in this area during the first half of the twentieth century, Mr. Brode argued the changes that occured in our city reflected Canada’s metamorphosis as a whole as it transitioned from a country of rural and small town communities to an urban, industrial and broad-based economy.  But more than just Continue Reading...
