BLACK HISTORY RESEARCH AT LOCAL HISTORY BRANCH

WPL’s Local History Branch is one of many community organizations helping to preserve and promote Black history within the Windsor-Essex County area.  Available at the branch are photographs, Windsor/Essex yearbooks, census records, voting lists, historical maps dating from 1790 forward, scrapbooks, newsletters, and access to early newspapers including; the Provincial Freeman and Voice of the Fugitive. All print items are for use in the Local History Library branch only. Internet access to historical and genealogical resources are also provided, as is the ability to create, print examine digital copies from print and microfilm originals. The Local History Branch is located at 3312 Sandwich St. in the midst of historic Sandwich Towne!
