Great News About WPL Electronic Resources

Kanopy is providing unlimited free access to Kanopy Kids!

WPL offers free access to streaming video through Kanopy. While we normally limit customers to 10 credits per month, effective March 16, there is no restriction on children’s content.  There is much to explore on Kanopy Kids, including classic programming like Sesame Street, movies starring popular literary characters like Franklin, and even a language learning series to introduce your kids to cultures of the world.

For adults, Kanopy has created a special collection that you can watch even if you’ve already used your 10 monthly credits. These titles will be totally free – we will not deduct any play credits when you watch these great films! This gives you a chance to experience more of the excellent programs on Kanopy’s platform.

Kanopy and Kanopy Kids are available through the Kanopy app or through their website.  Creating an account is easy. Simply register with your email address and a password, and enter your Windsor Public Library account details. Don’t have a library card? It’s easy to apply for one, and you’ll receive an email with log-in information! Get started today and begin exploring the wide range of fun and educational programs Kanopy has to offer!

What’s all the Hoopla about?

One of our most popular electronic resources is Hoopla – a digital media service that enables you to borrow a great selection of movies, television shows, documentaries, music, and audiobooks that can be streamed or downloaded onto your computer, smartphone or tablet, all with your Windsor Public Library card. While the library is closed over the next few weeks, we will be increasing the borrowing limit to 20 per month, so we can ensure everyone has access to quality entertainment and resources.

To access Hoopla, you will need a valid Windsor Public Library card. If you don’t have one, you can sign up for one here. Hoopla is available as an app to phone, tablet, and TV users, and via its website to computer users. If you have never used Hoopla in the past, you will need to create an account and link it to your library card number. If you have used Hoopla, just use your credentials to log in. You will now have 20 checkouts per month.

If you’re looking for recommendations on what to read or listen, sign up for one of our LibraryAware newsletters that will exclusively be promoting e-books and e-audiobooks over the next few weeks. If you want to see what other people are watching, check out the most popular movies on Hoopla for the past month!
