To celebrate 125 years of library service to the community, WPL is featuring photographs from the local history collection and community archive. On a daily basis for the balance of December, we will present an interesting and unique image of our city, which we hope will fascinate and entertain
The Seminole Branch was built and opened in 1953. In this image from the 70s, a young scholar receives assistance searching the card catalogue, in those long-ago pre-computer days when finding information took a little more work than it does now. Seminole is the oldest branch in the Windsor Public Library system and is still in its original location, and last year received an update with new shelving, flooring and customer seating. A 3-D printer now sits where the old card catalogues were located.
