WPL Celebrates 125 Years

To celebrate 125 years of library service to the community, WPL is featuring photographs from the local history collection and community archive. On a daily basis for the balance of December, we will present an interesting and unique image of our city, which we hope will fascinate and entertain.

Young readers examine new treasures on display during Young Canada Book Week in this 1962 photo taken at the Prince Edward Library.  A small children’s library was opened at Prince Edward School in 1933, to partially offset the closure of the East Branch earlier that year.  The branch closed in 1968.
