WINDSORITES TO ENJOY FREE ONTARIO PARKS PASSES

Windsor Public Library is participating in an Ontario Parks Day-Use Vehicle Permit Library Lending Program.  Through the program, customers can borrow a day-use pass, free of charge, that provides access for one vehicle and its occupants to more than 100 provincial parks in Ontario.  The program starts March 1, 2021.

This voluntary program is motivated by a commitment to help Ontarians spend more time in nature, by making it easier and more affordable for people to enjoy the benefits of provincial parks. Please visit our Healthy Parks Healthy People program website for more information about the benefits of spending time outdoors.

Included in the day-use vehicle package, when borrowed, is a coupon for $5 off a future daily vehicle permit purchase at Ontario Parks to further encourage people to spend time in nature and a copy of the Ontario Parks guide (as supply levels permit).

To find a list of provincial parks in Ontario please visit: OntarioParks.com/park-locator.

Windsor Public Library has 9 passes – one at each branch – available on a ‘first come first served’ basis.  The loan period is 7 days and the passes cannot be placed on hold and they cannot be renewed.

NOTE: Unfortunately, the park passes are non-holdable so we recommend contacting your nearest branch first to check availability and to ask staff to set one aside for you. If the pass assigned to that branch is in use, staff will happily call around to find one for you at another location.

I really do not know how the free park passes can work. You have 1 pass per library and you cannot put a hold on it,So I have to keep visiting the library to see if the pass is there? The london libraries have 30 passes and you can put a hold on them, why can’t we have that system.

If I have a planned date to go to a park how soon before should I be calling to see if the pass is available?

Minimally, I would contact your local Branch within the week. If they don’t have a pass, they will attempt to find u one at another location.
