The Pokémon are everywhere! Throughout Windsor (and the world,) people have been hunting animated monsters as part of one of the biggest video-games in history. You may play yourself, or you might have just seen large groups of people walking through parks with their smart phones out.
If you aren’t familiar with it, Pokémon Go is an augmented reality game which you play in real world locations – like your local library. It is based on characters from the longstanding Pokémon franchise, from which we have many books, graphic novels, movies, and more. Several of our libraries are PokéStops, and with free Wi-Fi available they’re a great spot for catching them.
Let’s Get Mapping!
One of the best things about this game is it gives you a chance to learn more about where you live. While you can play from home, the game works best when you’re out travelling where the game takes you. That’s why, on Friday August 5th, we will be hosting a drop-in program at our Central library between 2:00 and 4:00pm. We will be teaching people how to use Google Maps to mark out PokéStops & PokéGyms, so we can pick the best routes to help you catch them all! We will then be sharing the results with a publicly available online map of key PokéSpots in Windsor.
