The health of our staff and customers is a key priority as we work to limit the spread of COVID-19. Consequently, the Windsor Public Library Board will close all library locations across the city at 5 pm today and join with the City of Windsor to combat the spread of the contagion. The closure is through April 6.
Although, the community won’t be able to visit a bricks-and-mortar library branch, Windsorites are reminded that all library resources are available online 24/7 at www.windsorpubliclibrary.com with your library card. We have online resources for all ages, which can be accessed any time, and from anywhere. Books, magazines, movies, music – and a long list of databases – are available, free of charge. Last year, digital resources comprised one-third of our total circulation of 1.27 million.
If you don’t already have a library card, you can obtain an eLibrary Card here.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Windsor Public Library will keep the community up-to-date on developments with both Covid-19 and the library closure at www.windsorpubliclibrary.com.
NOTE: All overdue and checked out materials and holds will be extended to Thursday, April 9 and fines will not accrue until April 9. Customers are asked to keep all library resources and materials as the Book Drops will be closed Thursday, March 19. Customers with blocked and expired cards have had access to e-resources restored while we remain closed.

My 2 Books are due March 25/1920.
Can I drop them off on the Drop-ff Box?
Not to worry Lia. All overdue and checked out materials and holds have been extended to Thursday, April 9 and fines will not accrue until then. Please hang onto you books as Book Drops have been closed. Materials can be returned when we re-open. I hope this helps.
Has there been any thought given to increasing the number of allowed Hoopla borrows temporarily while the library is in reduced service mode? We have already used up our 12 allowed monthly borrows on Hoopla for March and temporarily opening it up would be a great help.
Thanks for your comment Dennis. We plan on announcing increased access to electronic resources shortly. Stay tuned!
Good to hear Chris! Thanks for the prompt reply. We love the Windsor library!
My library card just expired March 1st! :'( Is there a way for me to get it renewed over the phone or online?
While our branches are closed, we are still available by phone or email. You can call 519-255-6770 or email us at customerservice@windsorpubliclibrary.com to renew your library card. Thank you.
Will you open access to the accounts with past due fees so EVERYONE can use this? Currently blocked because I owe 23$ but no branch is open for a cash payment, debut/credit over the phone is not an option from my end
I would suggest you call us at 519.255.6770.
Is it possible to return books to the library before April 6?
P.S. It would have been nice if you had given users at least one day’s notice of the shutdown so they could borrow an extra book or two.
Thanks for your question Brian. Unfortunately, with world and local events moving so fast, we were unable to provide the notice we would have liked to. As of today, our book drops remain open at all locations and available for use.
I have books from Budimir. I presume I can still return them thru the book slot?
Of course you may return them to Budimir, or if more convenient, any of our branches will accept them.
