The Windsor Symphony Orchestra (WSO) and Windsor Public Library (WPL) are joining  together to offer a series of lectures aimed at bringing together individuals interested in the arts  – particularly music.  The WSO began the Amici Musicae series in 2016 and each scheduled event incorporates an education component to provide an appreciation for music and the finer points of composition. This week’s Throwback Thursday Picture is of Queen Alexandra Rose Day (variable dates in June) – On this day, Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (I.O.D.E) chapter including hospital workers, volunteers, and Girl Guides sold artificial roses throughout the Border Cities to raise money for the sanatorium.  Chaperons and assistants were stationed in every city block, while automobiles decorated with flags, pink roses, and bunting covered the outlying districts and the towns of Walkerville, Sandwich and Ford City.
