Music I’m Loving Today

Whatever your taste in music may be, Windsor Public Library has an array of music to suite your sounds. Did you know that the Academy Award nominated song, “Happy” (from the animated movie Despicable Me 2,) can be downloaded for free right from your home? Or you can get Shakira and Rihannas’s new hit single, “Can’t Remember to Forget You” or many, many more. Freegal Music is a database available to WPL patrons that allows them to download music right to their computer, player, tablet or Smartphone as an MP3 format. You can click on the link at the bottom and sign in using your username and password.  It is that simple!

If you prefer taking home the CD’s with you, WPL has a large collection available. If you haven’t listened to the 2014 Grammy winner for the Album of the Year, Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories, you can check it out today. Possibly in the mood for some Canadian rock? The 2014 Juno nominated Album of the year, Reflektor from Arcade Fire is part of the library’s collection, as is one of their older albums, The Suburbs, which won Album of the Year at the 2011 Grammy Awards, Best International Album at the 2011 BRIT Awards, Album of the Year at the 2011 Juno Awards, and the 2011 Polaris Music Prize for best Canadian album.

Maybe British boy band One Direction is what you are looking for. WPL carries 3 of their albums: Midnight Memories, Take Me Home, and Up All Night. If classical music is more to your taste, Il Divo’s new CD, A Musical Affair might do the trick. The collection includes many different types of genres, such as Country, Religious, Blues, Jazz, Rap and many more. There are also music CD’s in a wide variety of languages including, but not limited to, Chinese, French, Urdu, Spanish, and Polish.

If you want to step beyond the reaches of just listening to music to actually playing it, we also have a collection of sheet music that can be taken out from the library. There is everything from Disney and Broadway, to Harry Potter and Michael Buble. If you just want to read the latest biographies and autobiographies, why not check out Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson’s new bestseller, “Mo’ Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove” or Keith Richards’ “Life“.

Be sure to check out some of these great library resources!
