In honour of Remembrance Day occurring next week, this week’s Throwback Thursday Pic is a look back at the soldiers heading to war. This image was taken sometime in May 1916 at the old Canadian Pacific Railway station in Windsor, which was located on Sandwich Street West (today Riverside Dr. West) near Caron Avenue on the riverfront. The crowd well-wishers was on the platform wishing the 99th Essex County Battalion safe journey on their way to the Western Front in France. The white building behind the railway coaches was the warehouse and shipping building for the Canadian Salt Company, Limited.
