Looking towards the river along Ouellette Avenue in 1927 just north of Wyandotte Street. This week’s Throwback Thursday Pic shows a very busy downtown commercial district on a sunny warm summer day. Many different types businesses are in this view, such as the People’s Store (clothing), Loblaw Groceries, Dr. P. R. Wilson, Dentist, Central Billiard Parlor and Maple Leaf Lunch across the street. Further down the street is a drug store, shoe store and a hardware store. The tall building on the opposite side of the street is the Prince Edward Hotel. The variety businesses just in this photograph, illustrates the importance Ouellette Avenue held for the commercial activity of Windsor.
