Looking east towards Ouellette Avenue along Sandwich Street (Riverside Drive) is this weeks Throwback Thursday Pic. Taken in the early 1950s at the corner of Sandwich Street West and Dougall Avenue. This area of Sandwich Street is part of downtown Windsor and therefore part of the main shopping district for the city at that time. The block between Dougall Avenue and Ferry Street, the next street down, consists of the Campbell and the Douglas Blocks of buildings. Right at the street corner on the pole is the Municipal Fire Alarm Box for people without phones, they could use this alarm box to get in contact with the fire department in an emergency.
