Throwback Thursday

Looking north towards the Detroit River this week’s Throwback Thursday Picture was taken in 1930. The white building on the right with the columns is the Canadian Bank of Commerce, further up Drouillard Road is the East Windsor (formerly Ford City) Fire Station and the large structure on the left side of the image is Ford of Canada’s automotive plant. The Ford head office and automotive plant were transferred to Oakville west of Toronto in the 1950s dealing a heavy blow to the City of Windsor. If you are interested in other historic images of Windsor that are housed in your Community Archives, please visit the library’s digital exhibit “Windsor’s History and Pictures” at https://windsorpubliclibrary.contentdm.oclc.org/.
