The Lounge for Office Staff at Hiram Walker’s and Sons Limited, is this week’s Throwback Thursday Picture. Taken around 1925 this photograph shows the lounge that was located in Hiram Walker’s Head Office on Riverside Drive East. Features to notice in the photograph are the ceiling detail, the piano located at the back left of the photograph, plus the wind-up Victrola which was located in the corner of the room. The Head Office was designed by the famous Detroit architect Albert Kahn and was constructed from 1892 to 1894. The building still stands in the historic Walkerville district of Windsor, but is no longer used as offices for the distillery. If is now the Canadian Club Welcome Centre and tours of the building have been offered to members of the public in the past.
