This aerial view of Windsor was taken sometime in the early 1940s. This week’s Throwback Thursday Pic looks west from downtown and shows the Ambassador Bridge in the background and the Capitol Theatre in the foreground at the bottom of the frame. The Capitol Theatre opened in 1920 as Loew’s Theatre for live vaudeville performances. In 1929 the theatre becomes a movie cinema with the sale to Famous Players Cinemas. The white office building on the right side of image is the Guaranty Trust Building which opened in 1929 as the Metropolitan Building.
