This week’s Throwback Thursday Pic is another street scene from East Windsor (Ford City). The photograph was taken on a rainy day looking north along the east side of Drouillard Road at Charles Street. In this view there is Dubensky’s dry goods store, Windsor Bargain House and located at the far end of the block is Harry’s Place. Drouillard Road was the main shopping and commercial street for the City of East Windsor. The Town of Ford City was renamed City of East Windsor in 1929 because of Chrysler building an automobile plant on the south end of town on Tecumseh Road. Ford City would no longer be just making Ford automobiles they would also be making Chrysler products. So it was decided by the town leaders to rename their town to better reflect the diversity of company’s located in Ford City.
