This week’s Throwback Thursday Pic is part of our continuing series of photographs during the month of January showing the construction of the Paul Martin Building (Dominion Public Building), and future home of Central Branch of the Windsor Public Library. This photograph taken on December 24th, 1932 is looking south along Ouellette Avenue, shows the concrete for the basement had been poured and the framing for the ground floor had begun. In the background is the Windsor Business College building on Chatham Street, and the Canada Building rising on the left and back of the picture along Ouellette Avenue. Along Windsor’s main street, you can see cars and a streetcar of the Sandwich, Windsor and Amherstburg Railway System taking passenger home after a day of Christmas shopping. If you are interested in other historic images of Windsor, please visit the library’s digital exhibit “Windsor’s History and Pictures” at https://windsorpubliclibrary.contentdm.oclc.org/.
