With the recent opening of the new John Muir Branch on September 3 and the scheduled Grand Opening on Saturday September 28, this week’s Throwback Thursday looks at another library opening in the city’s west end. Ambassador Library opened in 1972 at Ambassador Plaza Shopping Centre on Huron Church Road, which replaced the old Sandwich Library on Mill Street. This photograph shows the public celebrating the grand opening of Ambassador Library. This branch would close when Bridgeview Library opened in June 2002. If you would like to view other historic images that is housed at your Community Archives, please our digital exhibit “Windsor’s History and Pictures” at http://heritage.windsorpubliclibrary.com/.
