Throwback Thursday

This week’s Throwback Thursday Picture is of Queen Alexandra Rose Day (variable dates in June) – On this day, Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (I.O.D.E) chapter including hospital workers, volunteers, and Girl Guides sold artificial roses throughout the Border Cities to raise money for the sanatorium.  Chaperons and assistants were stationed in every city block, while automobiles decorated with flags, pink roses, and bunting covered the outlying districts and the towns of Walkerville, Sandwich and Ford City.
