Throwback Thursday

This week’s Throwback Thursday Pic is of portion of the Norwich Block on Ouellette Avenue at Riverside Drive. The photograph shows the old Toronto Dominion Bank on the corner, Monfortons, Collins Formal Wear and the Gown Shop. Taken in 1975, the block was demolished in the early 2000s to make way for the new Chrysler Office Tower. The Toronto Dominion Bank façade was meticulously removed and each of the blocks numbered, with a plan to reuse in another location. As of this date the façade is still housed at the Lou Romano Water Reclamation Plant.  If you are interested in viewing other historic images from Windsor’s Community Archives photograph collection please visit the digital exhibit, “Windsor’s History and Pictures” at http://heritage.windsorpubliclibrary.com/.

Interesting that a different ‘Monforton’ returned to the same corner as an Injury law firm, higher up in the new Chrysler Tower after it was built.
