The Windsor Public Library Writers’ Group is a group of people passionate about writing. Members write fiction and non-fiction, children’s books, books for adults, poetry, and prose. The group meets monthly at the ‘X-Press Self-Publishing Lab at Central Library (850 Ouellette Avenue) to talk about various aspects of writing.

July’s meeting will focus on The Power Of Your Words – Using Emotion In Your Writing. The workshop will be presented by guest author M.J. Domet, who is currently on a cross-Canada tour. Everyone is welcome, no matter what your level of writing skill. Past topics have included what makes a good author reading, how to set up and maintain a web site (perfect for promoting your books!), and sales strategies in the local market.

“It’s exciting to see a community of writers coming together and flourishing because of the connections they make,” says Sue Perry, ‘X-Press Self-Publishing Facilitator. “Authors who normally would not meet are sharing experiences and leaving with fresh perspectives on their writing.”

Young Writers: please note the Self-Publishing Lab is offering workshops this summer geared to 5-13 year-olds on July 24, 31, and August 7 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm for young folks interested in contributing to the library’s Go Windsor! book or for those who simply love to write, rhyme, or draw.
