Her friends won&#8217;t talk to her and people she hasn&#8217;t talked to before whisper about her behind her back. That summer, Melinda had busted a party by calling the cops, which is in every means, looked down upon. Anderson spices up this story through a tender yet dark and funny way and invites the readers to join Melinda&#8217;s head as she decides to be alone and not talk. Unfortunately, even her\u00a0own mind is dangerous as\u00a0she&#8217;s trying to block herself from something that happened the night of the party.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS;\">\u00a0Anderson really captures the idea of high school and how dangerous of a place it can be right from\u00a0the start of the story.\u00a0The\u00a0first\u00a0paragraph of the story seemed to be a beckoning at a door, reading, &#8220;It is\u00a0my first morning of high school. I have seven new notebooks, a skirt I hate, and a stomachache.&#8221; With a touch of tender comedy, this book kept\u00a0me at my edge waiting for what Melinda would do\u00a0next.\u00a0At times, I even felt her anger build up inside of me, and at others, I could completely relate with her. The uniqueness of this book really draws\u00a0the readers\u00a0in for a story like none other. By the time\u00a0I was on the last page, I\u00a0couldn&#8217;t even let out a breath\u00a0and the ending surprised me. A\u00a0typical high school based story, one would think it would end\u00a0ordinarily, but\u00a0this\u00a011-award winning novel kept\u00a0my eyes\u00a0wide open until the\u00a0last word. Begin a journey by picking up Speak,\u00a0a novel you&#8217;ll never regret.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS;\"><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div>Like what you read?
