Procedures for teachers booking class visits to Windsor Public Library

Thinking about coming to the Windsor Public Library?

Attention Teachers! Please click on this link for a prepared letter for you to send home with students to announce your class visit to the library. This letter includes information on how to get a library card. Thanks!

Please look at the following system-wide procedures for Teachers booking class visits at the Windsor Public library:

For quality service, please call one month in advance to book class visits, tours, story times, etc.

This is an excellent time to share class projects, required reading lists and discover library programs and resources. For an appointment, call 255-6770 and specify the library you would like to be connected to.

Because only one staff member can be assigned to a class visit, libraries can accommodate only one class at a time, approximately 35 students.

Please note that we are unable to provide any special services or assign staff to classes that arrive at the library without an appointment.

Teachers and Aides must be present at all times

Things you can do to make your visit successful:

Tie your visit to a class project. This increases the relevance of the visit for your students and allows them to put new skills into practice right away! Send your class your project ideas or what you want the students to get out of the visit before coming to the library. We try to design each visit individually and the more we know about your class, the more we can tailor the visit to your needs.

Think about chatting with a librarian before your visit. Librarians can keep you informed about new books or databases, even changes in the Library that may have an impact on your visit!

We look forward to meeting you and your classes!
