This month’s Rave Reviews were a lot of fun. I was joined by librarian Adam Peltier and we shared some really exciting books. I always love his recommendations and we keep having to check in with each other as we have, on occasion, accidentally selected some of the same books. Throwback Thursday

How many remember the Steinberg’s grocery store downtown? This weeks Throwback Thursday pic is of the Steinberg’s Grocery store that was located at 200 Chatham Street East. This picture was taken in 1976, showing the now shuttered grocery store which opened February 27, 1967 and was closed on June 22, 1975. The building was demolished in the 1980s to make way for the new provincial court house, after a number of plans to repurpose the building fell through. Throwback Thursday

This photograph taken in 1924 is the residence of George Yule Masson, one of Windsor’s premier architects. George designed this house located at 3069 Alexander Avenue where he lived from 1924 to 1939. The house was designed in the French Cottage style. George Masson graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1921 where he studied architecture. When he returned to Windsor Masson worked for the architectural firm Nichols, Sheppard and Masson as well as Sheppard, Masson, Brand and Langlois.
