This week’s Throwback Thursday Pic is of the Canal in Sandwich. This photograph was taken sometime in early decades of the Twentieth Century. Some of the canals in Sandwich where fed from mineral springs. These mineral springs became very popular with visitors during the 1860s to 1880s, where it was reported that on Sundays and holidays, as many as 10,000 people would visit the springs and swim in the curative waters. By the time the 1890s arrived the springs had gone dry.
