THROWBACK THURSDAY

Taken in 1963, this weeks Throwback Thursday pic is of the Security Building, located at 267 Pelissier Street on the northwest corner with London Street (today University Avenue). Built in 1927 and opened in November, this ten storey commercial building was the tallest in southwestern Ontario at the time, and cost $475,000 to build. Stanley E. Loveridge and C. A. Ripley were the head of the syndicate that constructed the building. Pennington and Boyde were the architects. Consisting of 40,000 square feet of office space with retail space available at street level. Ninety plus years later, the Security Building still performs its original function of providing commercial and retail space for Windsor’s business community.
