Smith(founder of Smith’s Department Store in Windsor), starting the Press on the First Issue of the Ontario Edition of the Border Cities Star, October 1, 1929. With amalgamation in 1935 of Windsor and a number of smaller municipalities the papers name was changed to The Windsor Daily Star. The final name change came in 1959 when the paper was changed to The Windsor Star.
