THROWBACK THURSDAY

The Windsor Star building located at the corner of Ferry and Pitt Streets, was the home of Windsor’s daily newspaper from 1923 until 2013. This picture was taken sometime in the early 1930s showing “The Star” sign on top of the building. At the time the paper was called “The Border Cities Star”, in 1935 would become “The Windsor Daily Star” and finally “The Windsor Star”. Today “The Windsor Star” is located in the old Palace movie theatre at Ouellette and University. The old building was bought by the University of Windsor and after major renovations was converted to the School of Social Work. If you would like to see this picture or other historic photographs of Windsor, please visit the digital exhibit “Windsor’s History and Pictures” at http://heritage.windsorpubliclibrary.com/index.php.
