The Secret (September Dream) Garden Booklist

September should bring some relief from heat to gardeners in the Northern Hemisphere but September can also be one of the busiest months in the garden.

If you’re beginning the process of putting your garden to bed, after a hard day’s work why not read and dream about some of the latest trends in gardening and landscaping this fall while putting yourself to bed?

Some of the current (and not so current) garden trends growing around include mini DIY greenhouses for urban dwellers, roof gardens, solar-powered sky-gardens, edible urban forests, goats replacing lawn mowers to cut grass, glow in the dark plants as electricity-free nightlights, battery-powered flower pots growing plants without watering or fertilizing, urban coffee plantations, pothole gardening, garden camping, guerrilla guardening, planted furniture, plantable comic books, seed money (hand-illustrated and letterpress printed “coins” embedded with seeds), underground greenhouses for year-round gardening, edible lawns, shelved gardens, foodscaping, phyto kinetic buses, edible gardens in Major League Baseball parks, living art blending ceramics and horticulture (think upscaled chia pets)…the list is almost endless.

Windsor Public Library has a large collection of gardening books for those inclined to eclectic and less traditional forms of gardening. Below is The Secret (September Dream) Garden book list:
