Local Artist, Cindy Shafer, adorns Community Art Wall

Cindy Shafer, mother of four, born and raised in Amherstburg, Ontario,  is a self-taught artist who has worked in pen and ink, pastel, charcoal, marker, scroll saw, henna and digital art. Her exhibit is a welcome addition to our Community Art Wall and can be viewed during the whole month of September, 2016 at the Central branch.

In 2013, at the age of fifty-four, Cindy decided to teach herself to paint with acrylics. In 2016, she also took up watercolours.

She is mostly inspired by nature in and around Southern Ontario. She paints landscapes and water, floral and fantasy scenes inspired by the beauty she sees in the world around her.

Her art was chosen for the first edition of the Windsor online magazine The Zine.

Her solo exhibition in The Visions of Canada Gallery, Windsor was in 2014. She also exhibited with Artcite, Windsor, in 2015 and with the ACWR, Windsor, in both 2014 and 2015.

She created and maintains an online gallery and is involved with various online art and mentoring groups. She has been a featured artist in many online groups. Her watercolour cards are for sale in the Gibson Gallery Gift Shoppe in Amherstburg.

She now resides in Windsor and enjoys life as an artist and grandmother.

Cindy will be painting and answering any questions about her work on Friday, September 9 from 1:00-2:00 pm. Please stop by the Community Art Wall at the Central Library to say hello!
