This Summer GO to Windsor Public Library!

Windsor Public Library again has a fantastic program of summer activities planned for area children.

The 2013 theme is GO with all of the fun officially launching on Monday, July 8 at 2:00 pm at Central Library, 850 Ouellette Avenue, Windsor. Come have your face painted by Allison Martin from Painted Smiles Productions, enjoy a clown workshop and stilt walking with Mark Lefebvre from The Stilt Guys and participate in other activities including a craft and storytime.

“Each year, several thousand Windsor children participate in WPL Summer Programs, which are designed to acquaint them with all the resources the library offers – free of charge,” says WPL Public Service Manager Bonita Seecharan. She also reminds parents and children to drop in to any neighborhood Windsor Public Library location and pick up a free TD Summer Reading Club kit which contains a passport and activity book – while supplies last! Last year approximately 5,000 area children participated in our summer programs.

Other highlights of the Summer Program include:

– Go Windsor! Book: Help us tell the story of Windsor! Write a story, poem, song, draw a picture or do some manga to share with the world. All submissions will be bound in a book that will be on the shelves of your library. You can even win your very own copy, just by submitting.

– Go to the Fire Station: Come and meet Firefighters from Windsor Fire & Rescue as they arrive with their fire truck and explain fire safety to the children.

– ERCA presents Go To The Pond For A Wildlife Adventure: Discover the wild creatures that live in a pond through “Go to the Pond” Adventure story and scavenger hunt, catch and view pond bugs under a microscope and make a dragonfly craft.
