PRINCE – The loss of a great artist and amazing talent.

We lost a remarkable recording artist, musician, actor, songwriter, and mentor.  Prince died Thursday, April 21, 2016 at age 57.  Prince’s music gave a generation joyful dances as well as addressed serious situations such as abuse and alcoholism to name a few. Controversial at times, no one could deny Prince’s unique talents and amazing gifts.  He was a hard working artist.  Thanks for helping us ‘GET THROUGH THIS THING CALLED LIFE.”

“Prince is the only recording artist since the Beatles to have a number one song, movie and single at the same time.”  From the book “PRINCE – Inside the Music and the Masks” by Ronin Ro available your Windsor Public Library.

“PURPLE RAIN” the movie and the soundtrack left behind a unique style of music that still influences artists today.  Artists  like  Morris Day and the TimeSheila E., Alicia Keyes, Miguel, Jay Z, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Sinead O’Connor, Madonna, and Pharrel Williams to name a few had their careers enriched by songs Prince wrote or produced.

According to NewsBeat Prince could play 27 instruments.  He was an amazing artist.

Even though he hasn’t had hit records since the 80’s, he still kept recording and performing at a steady pace right up until the end. In addition to being a star, he was a pretty amazing musician, writer and producer. Tonight, there will be a tribute on SNL.
