Today marks the 40th Anniversary of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The hugely popular British comedy group, made up of members Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin came to fame on Monty Python’s Flying Circus. After four very successful seasons the group decided it was time to make their appearance on the big screen. It resulted in the making of a cult classic – a movie that smashed box offices, and even inspired the making of the 2005 Tony Award winning musical Spamalot. Filmed on location in Scotland, this hilarious movie, now 40 years old, continues to entertain audiences. In fact, the movie was chosen as the second best comedy in history on the ABC Special, Best in Film: The Greatest Movies of Our Time. As well as carrying the movie on BLU-RAY, Windsor Public Library carries an extensive collection of Monty Python books and movies. The following are just some examples of the items that we have in the collection.
