Library to Hold a Gigantic Book Sale

The Windsor Public Library (850 Ouellette Avenue) is holding a gigantic book sale on Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14 – 9:30 am to 4:30 PM – and Sunday, March 15 – 1:30 to 4:30 PM.

There will be thousands of titles to choose from, covering all genres of reading and viewing tastes.  Hardcover books and trade paperbacks will be priced at $2 with mass market and small paperbacks at $1, but we’re encouraging everyone to pick up a plastic bag – which we will supply – and fill it with books for only $5.  Audio cassettes and DVDs are priced at $2, car service manuals at $2 and magazines at 50 cents.

Fiction is by far the largest genre for sale – but biographies, history, cookbooks, self-help and how-to items will also be available.  The books and DVDs are for sale because of a de-selection process which has made them surplus to need, classified them as out-of-date or simply worn out through heavy use.  Additionally, donated items not needed are also for sale.

In past years, WPL has scheduled sales throughout the year at all branches, but after listening to customer suggestions we are having a large sale– providing the opportunity for as many members of the community as possible to explore all of the titles available for purchase.

All proceeds from the sale will go to purchase new library materials.  Suggestion boards will be set up around the sale area asking members of the community to share what new materials they’d like to see at WPL.
